NTSB Outlines Investigation Into Florida Plane Incident
(Jacksonville, FL) -- A federal investigation is underway after a plane carrying 143 people ran off the runway into a Florida river. NTSB Vice Chairman Bruce Landsberg said there were only minor injuries in the incident involving the Boeing 737 flight from Guantanamo Bay to Jacksonville. Everyone made it off the plane safely. The flight data recorder is on its way to a lab in Washington, D.C. for analysis.
Rep. Eskamani Bemoans Culture In Tallahassee
(Tallahassee, FL) -- An Orlando Democrat doesn't seem too pleased with how the latest legislative session went. The session ended this weekend after State Rep. Anna Eskamani and others approved a 91-billion dollar budget. Republican Governor Ron DeSantis said the budget contains great wins for conservatives along with what he calls 'the environment stuff' that might appeal to Democrats. Eskamani, though, thinks her Democratic colleagues didn't get enough of what they wanted, and she tells the Orlando Sentinel there's a culture of go along to get along.
Accidental Gun Discharge At Publix
(Land O'Lakes, FL) -- A man is hurt after accidentally shooting himself in Pasco County. Deputies say the unidentified man was in a Publix in Land O'Lakes on Collier Parkway yesterday when his gun went off. The man was shot in the lower body, but his injury is not life-threatening. No one else was hurt, and no charges have been announced.
Child Crashes Car As Mom Shops In Store
(Pensacola, FL) -- A mom is facing charges after one of her kids apparently decided to take her car for a spin while she was shopping in Escambia County. FHP says while Cassidy Ellis was inside a Dollar Tree on Pensacola Boulevard, her six-year-old son inside the car got behind the wheel and tried to drive the car. He wound up crashing into another car and a tree in the parking lot. No one was hurt, Ellis is accused of child neglect.
Massachusetts Teacher Creates Gen Z Dictionary To Help Understand His Students
(Lowell, MA) -- Sometimes it feels like newer generations are speaking a totally different language. Massachusetts high school teacher James Callahan created an urban dictionary to help decipher the words and phrases commonly used by Generation Z, or people currently in their mid-teens to early twenties. Callahan's dictionary has since gone viral. Callahan's dictionary includes phrases such as "being dead," which actually means you're amused. He also redefines the word "snack," saying instead of food it refers to a good-looking person.
