Four Killed In Apparent Murder-Suicide

(Bithlo, FL) -- Four people, including two children, are dead after what the Orange County sheriff calls a tragic situation. The bodies were found yesterday at a home in Bithlo on Corner Glen Drive after an apparent murder-suicide. Deputies say a man shot his two sons and his wife before turning the gun on himself. Sheriff John Mina says the shooter was a Customs and Border Protection officer who worked at Orlando International Airport, and the identities of those involved will be released today. 

Woman And Baby Escape Violent Incident

(Orlando, FL) -- A search is underway to find a man Orange County deputies believe is dangerous. Terrance Givens is wanted for an incident involving a woman and a baby yesterday near Texas and Rio Grande avenues. Deputies say the woman was holding her baby when she jumped out of a window at an apartment complex to avoid Givens, but neither was seriously hurt. She then apparently hid under a truck, and by the time deputies arrived at the scene, the 39-year-old Givens was gone. 

Plane Makes Scary Landing At DBIA

(Daytona Beach, FL) -- A problem with landing gear is to blame for a scary incident at a Volusia County airport. A plane trying to land at Daytona Beach International Airport yesterday wound up skidding on the runway when its landing gear didn't deploy. Sparks flew as the twin-engine Cessna slid on its belly, but neither of the two people onboard were hurt. There's no word on why the landing gear malfunctioned.

Man Arrested For Prompting School Lockdown

(Miami, FL) -- A Miami-Dade County man is accused of causing a scare at a school in Homestead. Police yesterday arrested Christian Edinger after he was reportedly seen with an AR-15 while riding a dirtbike outside South Dade Senior High School. The sighting led to a lockdown as armed officers searched the school, but no one was hurt. Police say the 23-year-old was found at his home where he confessed and apologized.

Firefighters Targeted In Car Break-Ins

(Miami, FL) -- Miami firefighters appear to be the victims of targeted car break-ins. More than seven personal cars outside Miami Fire Station 10 were broken into yesterday morning at Northwest Seventh Street and Le Jeune Road. No arrests have been announced. Police didn't say why they believe the firefighters were targeted.

Florida Voters To Decide On Constitution Amendment

(Tallahassee, FL) -- Florida voters will decide if it will be more difficult to change the state constitution. The state Supreme Court has approved a ballot initiative that would require future constitutional amendments be approved by voters twice instead of just once to take effect. The measure will appear on the November ballot. It needs 60-percent to pass.

DeSantis Gets High Marks In New Poll

(Jacksonville, FL) -- Florida voters seem to be happy with our governor. A new UNF/First Coast News poll finds Governor Ron DeSantis has a 65-percent approval rating, which is higher than that of any other politician voters were asked about. DeSantis' approval rating is 18 points higher than President Trump's, 16 points higher than Senator Marco Rubio's, and 21 points higher than Senator Rick Scott's. Voters also told pollsters that healthcare is the most important issue ahead of November's election, followed by education.

Ohio Inmate Falls Through Ceiling During Escape Attempt

(Dayton, OH) -- An Ohio woman is facing new charges for trying to escape jail through the ceiling. She didn't even make it a minute before crashing to the floor. And cameras caught the whole thing. The inmate first stands on a chair in a waiting area to survey the ceiling. Then she drags a chair over, climbs up, and slips out of sight. Seconds later, she drops back through the ceiling with her legs dangling and officers pull her down. The 42-year-old had only been behind bars a few days on charges of assault and robbery.

University Of Albany Students Throw Coronavirus Party

(Albany, NY) -- A group of students at the University of Albany are facing backlash for throwing a coronavirus-themed party. Deleted social media posts detailed the gathering, showing a bucket of iced Corona beers next to someone in a surgical mask. One caption read "Corona virus isn't gonna stop anyone from partying." Members of the student-group Asian American Alliance blasted the partygoers calling it "not funny and completely insensitive." University officials say the conduct will be investigated and those involved may face disciplinary action. The virus has infected more than 75-thousand people across the globe.
