ACTION ALERT: Time to call Senators Thad Altman and Andy Gardiner and ask them to oppose amendments to SB 600 that would place our ELECTED Supervisors of Elections under the supervision of the APPOINTED Secretary of State. This is a bad idea and takes accountability out of the process. Should such an amendment pass the Senate, the bill would go back to the House for another vote. Contacting Representatives would not be a bad idea, just in case.

The Boston Marathon may be the premiere event of its kind in the world and it was marred by a bombing yesterday that, as bad as it was, could have been worse. Authorities recovered at least one additional undetonated device that may provide essential clues as to the identity of the bomber and the purpose for the attack. While some mince words over whether or not this was an act of terrorism, there is no question. The questions are who, why and how do we hold them accountable. Speculation will abound until investigators uncover the details. Was it a foreign or domestic operation? No matter, the country went in to a heightened state of alert as law enforcement and security officials around the nation ramped up efforts to secure high profile or vulnerable targets. It’s not something Americans are used to and we’ll talk that aspect and more during today’s BML.
