MELBOURNE BEACH COMMISSION MEETING

Scandal envelops Washington, DC and the Obama administration is the focus of it all.  The comparisons to Nixon are unavoidable and the wonder (or hope) is whether the president faces a similar fate.  Even so, the president took time out to specifically honor Deputy Barbara Pill and her family as part of Law Enforcement Memorial week.  Locally the heated politics are happening in Melbourne Beach where the town that wants to live in the past may need to resort to dueling to settle its commission differences.  On the county level Matt Reed and I are on opposite sides of the County Commission/School Board battle.  Matt joins us at 8am…should be interesting.  I’ll try to not have the radio police come toss him out of the studio…

A NY NO-NO

NY school shave done it this time!  Completely ignoring nanny Bloomberg, they dared use butter in meal preparation!  While we are at the table, now eating Mexican food is offensive (I’m so glad my Hispanic friend who took me to lunch the other day didn’t think so)!  The rally for the uninformed went on last night in Titusville.  Their literature targets the uninformed, too.  The IRS is probably the most feared agency in the federal government.  Now we know why.  The White House shouldn’t be far behind, as the Associated Press found out.  Will the press now start reporting on the Obama administration instead of passing on its press releases?  The president blames Rush Limbaugh for the partisan divide in Washington, but what is the president acknowledging, even as he misses the point?  If you have concerns about overreaching government the County Commission meeting this morning and tonight’s School Board meeting should be of interest to you.  Robin Fisher wants to control it all…will the other commissioners let him?  Time will tell.

BFRS-BRETT FAVRE RETIREMENT SYNDROME

It was a busy news weekend and there are many stories to talk as we begin our week together.  Not the least of which is County Commissioner Robin Fisher continuing to be a bully and wanting to control Brevard County Schools from his high and mighty perch on the County Commission.  Fisher is a whining bully who dropped the race card in the schools issue prompting lawsuits alleging racism in school decisions and, unfortunately, has his way with the County Commission that has no leadership in its chair nor the courage to stand as a group to fight Fisher’s dominance.  Fisher was elected by approximately 20% of the county’s electorate, yet he wants to rule the entire county and schools as well.  Does anyone beside Trudie Infantini have the courage to oppose him on the commission?  Fisher is trying to extend his power well beyond the limits he was elected to manage.  The county deserves better than a race baiting bully being in charge.  We’ll have School Board Member Amy Kneessy with us at 8am to discuss this latest attack by Fisher that could lead to even less money and more school closures.

COMING BACK?

It’s a Facebook Friday on BML.  We’ll start with a discussion with a friend over instant replay in baseball and then move to some criticism of me and the show as comments I made yesterday regarding Boston were apparently misunderstood.  We’ll clarify them on today’s show.  The Cat in the Hat is in charge at the DOE.  You’ll see what I mean.  Running from police is generally a bad idea.  It’s worse when you decide to feed the alligators in the process.  Governor Scott is getting the pressure to use his veto pen now that the legislative session is over and the fate of legislation is in his hands.  Lindsey Graham is taking on the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs in the Benghazi matter.  The Boston Marathon was identified as a possible target days before the bombings, but no one told Boston…looks like DHS isn’t!  I asked recently where Jack Bauer is when you need him.  It looks like Jack could be back in a FOX reboot of 24.  I hope so!

MATTERS TO EVERYONE EXCEPT WHITE HOUSE

It’s become, in part, an education Thursday as we have religious liberty, student safety, racism and guns all in play regarding schools this morning.  And while Washington continues to talk on immigration, I am ever doubtful anything will ever transpire that will substantively change the status quo.  Benghazi and the whistle-blower testimony yesterday captivates most of us…the White House is pretending it is of no consequence.  Matt Reed joins us at 8am.  He takes a look at Congressman Bill Posey’s interest in DHS and ammunition purchases.
